The Glyders

don, seventy-eight, has been a keen scrambler his entire life, and recounts stories of cycling as a teenager from liverpool to climb Tryfyn and cycle back in a day. an active lifestyle and a chronic knee injury from basketball in the seventies, don is on an nhs wait list for knee surgery. The surgery waitlist on is so long that he’s unsure whether he’ll still be in scrambling shape by the time he is fully recovered from the operation. what would you do in this situation? a thusfar unconquered ten hour three-peak epic across the glyders, an impressive horseshoe range within reach of the highest in wales. while all three peaks remained elusive owing to the familiar basketball injury, the spectacular scenery, fun climbing, and reminiscences were a triumph of a life-long passion for the mountains.
